To get credit for the class you must complete all three (3) components of the class:
Attend the lecture and actively participate (on-line or on-site)
Turn in your Independent Study Assignments
Turn in your Work Experience Time-sheet and Evaluation
When all three (3) have been completed your transcript with your final grade will be sent to you.
Our core ECE/CDA class lecture is 2 days (15 hours total - 7.5 hours on Saturday and 7.5 hours on Sunday). But to complete the course you need to also complete your Independent Study Assignments and Work Experience requirement which is done at your own pace. You have a total of 90 days to complete all parts of the program.
Our GE classes are 5-week asychronous classes.
The on-line virtual kit is available for our students who are participating in the lecture on-line. The virtual kits is optional and not required. For an additional $49.00 they receive a headset with a built in microphone, a Theoria Notepad, and a Theoria Pen. If you already have a headset then you most likely will not need this kit.
Students will participate in our Adobe Connect virtual learning platform and receive a live lecture from our Theorian Professors. This can be done in the comfort of your own home with the appropriate technical device or on our beautiful campus in Carlsbad, Ca where you may receive a face to face lecture in a classroom.
Students will have assignments to complete. Students will upload their assignments in our user-friendly Orbund student portal. Simply select the assignment you are submitting and upload your document by clicking on the “upload” button. No hand written, pictures of papers/projects, or emailed assignments will be accepted.
In each class there is a Practicum. There are two forms. One is a Student Evaluation—this needs to be completed for every single class. This form may not be reused in any way shape or form due to the fact that students are being evaluated on different criteria. There must be a signature from a lead teacher, director, or supervisor.
The second form is a Time Sheet. This is to be filled out and signed by the student and a lead teacher, director, or supervisor. These hours need to be working hours, lunch breaks do not count. Each student must complete a minimum of 45 hours to meet the Practicum Requirement.
During COVID-19 Theoria has Exemption Policies in place for students who cannot complete their Practicum requirements. Each will be handled on a case by case basis. Communication with Student Services is key.
Every student is different. If you put in the work and make the effort students typically do very well here at Theoria Technical College. We have experienced professors who have not only worked in the field for many years, but also who are here to help support students throughout the entire process.
Professors area available throughout the entire process. Each Professor will have their own set of Office Hours they are available for questions or help. Professors are also available by email. Virtual meetings even after lecture are available. Students just need to coordinate these meetings with their Professor.
If a student participates in Fast Track, typically these students will register for a class, complete all components of the course (homework assignments, assessments, and practicum forms) prior to the lecture. Once the lecture is complete, the students will receive transcripts within 5-7 business days. If Unofficial Transcripts are needed for the employer, Student Services can provide these for the student if asked to do so. There is a $75 fee to participate in Fast Track.
If students do not participate in Fast Track, students can typically finish a course in 30 days or less. Otherwise students have up to 90 days to complete all components of the course.
These are two different processes and fees.
Fast Track allows students to complete their homework, assessments, and practicum prior to the first date of lecture so that they may earn their ECE units quickly. Students must have all work completed and uploaded in the student portal by Saturday at 9:00am. Everything will be graded by Sunday end of lecture. If the work is not completed by Saturday at 9:00am then the student falls back into traditional grading policies in which Professors and their assistants have up to 10 business days to complete any and all grading. Grading takes place in order of receipt. Fast Track grading has a fee of $75.00.
Expedited Transcripts can be paid for and sent out at any time. Students can receive Official Transcripts in the mail in 3-5 business days once payment is received. The fee for this is $25.00.
If the student would like their transcripts expedited once Fast Track is paid for and all course work is completed, they may pay for this process when they are paying for the Fast Track fee to ensure transcripts are received quickly as well.
If the expedited transcript fee is paid at the same time as Fast Track, official transcripts will go out on the Monday following the two-day weekend lecture.

Yes. Theoria uses a formative approach when assessing students work. What this means for the student is that the Professor will give feedback on assignments and do in fact allow students to go in and make corrections, resubmit, or redo assignments if necessary. It is up to the student how well they want to do.
Typically, yes. However, due to COVID-19 students have been permitted to use up to 6 months previous experience in the classroom. If the student was unemployed prior to COVID-19 and still unemployed by the time their 90 days are up we have policies in place to help each student on a case by case basis. The student needs to communicate with Student Services in order to be assisted with their specific situation.
These 45 hours can be volunteer hours or working hours on the clock in your place of work. These need to be hours in a licensed child care facility. Combined volunteer and working hours is okay too. Be sure to record your hours with the date, time in and time out. Total the hours (minimum 45 hours), get required signatures then upload and submit in the student portal.
